Thomas Telford - The Man Who Built Britain

Just finished performing in Dave Dewar's latest Cultural Connections play about the life of Thomas Telford. Civil Engineering is not maybe the likeliest of subjects for a musical play but Telford's life was amazing and rightly deserves more exposure. We performed in a private venue on Wednesday 30th May 2018 then did a school workshop at Langholm on Thursday 31st May followed by a performance for the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival in the Buccleugh Centre, Langholm.....the area where Telford was born.....and in The Ewart Library, Dumfries on Friday 1st June.. The cast included Dumfriesshire's own popular entertainer William Williamson as Telford, Wendy Weatherby, Scotland's top cellist and traditional singer playing Mrs.Telford, Dave Dewar as the interviewer from the local newspaper, Olaf Oluson and Bob McClure with supporting parts and myself and Moe providing most of the songs (10 newly composed for the show) and music along with Wendy. We played to packed houses which says something about the interest in Telford!
