  • Ian is currently recording a new album with Ian Bruce in Edinburgh. Ian Bruce is producing and arranging the album which will be called SINGING THE RIVER It includes nine of Ian's new songs, four covers and a joint Bruce & Walker song called THE TOUCH & THE GO.
  • Alzheimer Scotland in Falkirk have invited Ian to lead monthly sessions of Singing for the Brain This is a well developed national programme which has recently featured on television. Alzheimer Scotland feel that there can be real benefits for those suffering from dementia and their carers in taking part in the singing and the music.
  • Mahatma Gandhi's grandson, Arun Manilal Gandhi visited Carmondean Primary School, Livingston on 8th October 2009. and the pupils sang two of Ian's songs; "Portrait of a Woman", about Mother Teresa and "Hawks and Eagles Fly Like Doves" about apartheid. Ian was invited as a guest.
  • Enoch Kent helped launch the British Folk revival with Ewan McColl and Peggy Seeger. Now a long time Canadian, Enoch puts his broad, smokey and powerful voice to some of his favourite songs in a new album called "One More Round", released on Borealis Records, Toronto www.borealis.com. Enoch has included Ian's song "Some Hae Meat" in the album. The song has also been included in the record company's compilation album called These Times.
  • Ian's song Hawks and Eagles Fly Like Doves has been included in a CD called A' Adam's Bairns to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade in Britain.The project was initiated and produced by Dr. Fred Freeman for The National Library of Scotland and supplied to every school in Scotland. Hawks and Eagles is sung by Tich Frier and other singers and writers includeIan Bruce, Rod Paterson, Emily Smith, Nick Keir, Jim Reid, Wendy Weatherby, Steve Byrne, Ross Kennedy, Gillian McDonald, Dave Taylor, John Morran, Robert Burns, Adam McNaughtan, The Proclaimers, Alastair Hulett, Anne Hunter, Jihn McCreadie, Fred Freeman, Hamish Henderson, James Hogg, Alan Cunningham, Joe Corrie, Alan Reid, Peter Nardini and Steve Clark.
  • Ian was pleased to attend the launch of a new CD called Simply Burns in Castle Menzies, Aberfeldy in October 2008. Linda Dewar, Anna Hepburn, Claire Hewitt and Douglas Craik have created an evening of song, poetry and readings in celebration of Robert Burns and have included Ian's song "Some Hae Meat" as the only contempoary song on their album.
  • Stephen Quigg has released a new album called "Silver Sands" and has included Ian's song "Some Hae Meat". Stephen has a demanding schedule as a solo singer and entertainer and is also one of The McCalmans. Stephen's site is at www.stephenquigg.co.uk.
  • Ian's song "Sing Me A Song Mr. Bloom" has been included in a new CD by Manchester's outstanding international singer and entertainer, Bram Taylor. It is called "SONG SINGER". This CD is Bram's ninth album on Fellside Records of Workington, Cumbria. The song was inspired by watching the character Mr. Bloom in Twilight Zone The Movie.
  • Ian's song "Roses in December" has been included in the release of three CDs, for the price of one, to mark 30 years of Fellside Records. It is called "Landmarks" and includes tracks from artists including Martin Carthy, Maddy Prior, Rick Kemp, Nic Jones, Spiers & Boden, Martyn Wyndham-Read, John Wright, Sara Grey, John Kirkpatrick, Jez Lowe & The Bad Pennies and many more.
  • Tryst, the trio of Susan Thores, Liz Reid and Heather Wilkinson from West Lothian, have released their second album with Ian McCalman. They have included Ian Walker's song "Companions" which is also the title of their album. The song was written to celebrate the life of Nora Devine who ran the Linlithgow Folk Club for over 30 years.
